Wang Ping of the Red Cross Society of China was elected to the Standing Commission by the 34th International Conference in October 2024. He has served in his National Society for more than 20 years in various senior management and leadership roles, including Vice President from 2016 to 2024, and Secretary General between 2016 and 2022. He previously held several directorial positions, particularly in the field of relief and health.
Wang Ping has a BA in Clinical Medicine and a Master’s degree on Public Administration. His journey with the Red Cross was marked by leading emergency response, institutional development and humanitarian diplomacy. He has developed extensive expertise in disaster and emergency preparedness and response, post-disaster recovery, first aid and public health. He has led, coordinated or overseen response to large-scale emergencies nationwide, such as in the contexts of the Sichuan earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as in support of international operations of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in disasters and armed conflicts, such as in Nepal, the Philippines, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine, Tonga, and Afghanistan.
