Guidelines for awarding the Henry Dunant Medal and the Red Cross and Red Crescent
Prize for Peace and Humanity

The Guidelines for awarding the Henry Dunant Medal and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Prize for Peace and Humanity were adopted by the Standing Commission on 9 December 2020. Their purpose is to clarify and supplement the provisions of the Regulations for the Henry Dunant Medal and the Regulations for the Prize for Peace and Humanity on the eligibility and desired qualities of the nominees, the nomination process itself, review and decision-making regarding recipients, and the award ceremony.

These guidelines include two reference annexes for the awarding of the Prize for Peace and Humanity:

ANNEX 1: Program of Action of the Red Cross [and Red Crescent] as a Factor of Peace, adopted by the World Red Cross Conference on Peace (Belgrade, 1975)

ANNEX 2: Fundamental Guidelines for the Contribution of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to a True Peace in the World, adopted by the Second World Red Cross and Red Crescent Conference on Peace (Council of Delegates, Aaland – Stockholm 1984)
